Chiropractors Can Help With Disc Disorders
Have you been diagnosed with bulging or herniated discs? Perhaps degenerative disc disease causing spine pain, sciatica, arm or leg pain? Have you been told you should consider surgery? If yes, then you’re in the right place! You need to consider Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy.
Spinal Decompression Therapy has been effective in degenerative disc syndrome, herniated discs, facet syndrome, sciatica, and spinal stenosis. We have successfully used Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression even with failed back surgery syndrome.
About the age of twenty-one the body no longer pumps blood into the spinal discs. The heart and blood vessels are just not strong enough to pump blood into something bearing the weight of the body above it. The disc has to get oxygen and nutrition, so it absorbs it from the tissues around it. Movement of the disc helps work fluid and nutrition into and out of the disc like sqeezing and releasing a sponge. When a spinal joint becomes locked or fixed in one position the lack of motion causes a loss of fluid in the disc and like a tire that’s going flat, it begins to bulge. Breakage of disc fibers can cause bulging in a specific area, possibly onto a nerve causing severe pain.
Treatment begins with restoring motion to the segment. This allows a re-uptake of fluid. Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is a revolutionary new technology used primarily to treat the disc injuries in the neck and low back. This treatment option is very safe and utilizes FDA cleared equipment to apply forces to distract the spinal structures in a precise and graduated manner to create a “vaccum effect” otherwise known as negative intra-discal pressure. Programmed periods of distraction offset with cycles of partial relaxation have been shown in research to increase disc height and reduce the accompanying bulging or herniation.
The computerized distraction gently creates a negative disc pressure or “vacuum effect” to induce the retraction of the herniated or bulging disc back to the inside of the disc, and off the nerve root, thecal sac, or both. It happens only microscopically with each cycle, but cumulatively, over four to six weeks, the results are quite dramatic.
These repeated cycles of decompression and relaxation, over a series of visits, promote the diffusion of water, oxygen, and nutrition from the outside of the discs to the inside. These nutrients enable the torn or degenerated disc fibers to begin to heal.
With low back spinal decompression the patient lies comfortably on their back or stomach. Comfortable padded straps are fastened around the waist and anothe set around the lower chest. For treatment of the neck, the patient lies comfortably on his back with a pair of soft rubber pads behind the neck. Most patients enjoy the treatment and frequently find it relaxing to the point of falling asleep.
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is extremely effective in reducing bulging or herniated discs, relieving pinched nerves, sciatica, radiating arm pain, degenerative disc disease, leg pain, and facet syndromes. We’ve even used the decompression equipment with chronic knee pain patients. If you would like to see a chiropractor to address any issues you might have then please contact us!
