CHIROPRACTIC CARE

With the right chiropractor, chiropractic care can do more than treat injuries and illnesses; it can also serve as an invaluable preventative wellness tool. Your body can only function as well as its nervous system can allow, and a spinal misalignment can inhibit nerve signaling, increasing your vulnerability to diseases and chronic health problems. Dr. Robinson can perform periodic screenings and adjustments to keep your spinal alignment true, your posture straight and your health optimal.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Chiropractic care refers to the use of natural solutions and spinal realignment to encourage healing and mobility while your body heals. While back and neck pain can stem from strained or sprained muscles, it can also stem from herniated discs or misalignment in your spine and neck. Long-term recovery from injuries starts with making positive changes to your situation and obtaining appropriate treatment. At our clinic, we help with the healing process by using appropriate tools to reduce pain and improve mobility.

Brain Based Therapy with a Chiropractor

In the past, patients with chronic pain were often told, “It’s in your head,” and referred to a psychiatrist, while today many arrive with prescriptions for antidepressants. Our Brain-Based Therapy focuses on the brain’s role in pain perception, offering a non-drug approach that supports natural healing.

  • Targets specific areas of the nervous system responsible for pain signals
  • Enhances spinal alignment to improve nerve communication
  • Reduces inflammation without relying on medication
  • Supports the musculoskeletal system for overall body balance
  • Promotes holistic health through non-invasive treatments

I’ve been a patient of Dr Robinson for about forty years and I would not be alive if I didn’t have such great orthopedic care! In the past I have tried other chiropractic doctors but no one can even begin to do all the techniques that Dr Robinson will do to ease the pain and keep it from recurring.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the science of locating spinal misalignments, called subluxations and adjusting the alignment of the spine. The spinal corrections, or adjustments, help allow the body express its natural healing abilities. Eliminating or reducing nerve interference helps your body recover from injuries and fight off disease.

How often should I get a chiropractic adjustment?

When you are just starting a new treatment plan, it’s common to have adjustments multiple times a week with your chiropractor.

Does chiropractic treatment require a referral from an MD?

A referral is usually not needed to see a doctor of chiropractic (DC); however, your health plan may have specific referral requirements. You may want to contact your employer’s human resources department—or the insurance plan directly—to find out if there are referral requirements. Most plans allow you to just call and schedule an appointment with a chiropractor.

What conditions do chiropractors treat?

Chiropractors or Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions. They are especially well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches using their highly skilled manipulations or chiropractic adjustments. DCs also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which includes the muscles, ligaments and joints. These painful conditions may involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant to the region of injury. In addition, chiropractors offer advice to patients on diet, nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, and occupational and lifestyle modification.

How is a chiropractic adjustment performed?

Chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a manual procedure that utilizes the highly refined skills developed during the doctor of chiropractic’s intensive years of chiropractic education. The chiropractic physician typically uses his or her hands or an instrument to manipulate the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to restore or enhance joint function. This often helps resolve joint inflammation and reduces the patient’s pain. Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. The chiropractor adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Patients often note positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment.

Is chiropractic safe?

Chiropractic has been found to be extraordinarily safe. Chiropractic is a conservative approach to healthcare. Because there are no drugs or surgery involved with chiropractic, it is a safe, natural way to help reach 100% health.

Is chiropractic treatment ongoing?

The hands-on nature of the chiropractic treatment is essentially what requires patients to visit the chiropractor a number of times. To be treated by a chiropractor, a patient needs to be in his or her office. In contrast, a course of treatment from medical doctors often involves a pre-established plan that is conducted at home (i.e. taking a course of antibiotics once a day for a couple of weeks). A chiropractor may provide acute, chronic, and/or preventive care thus making a certain number of visits sometimes necessary. Your doctor of chiropractic should tell you the extent of treatment recommended and how long you can expect it to last.

What type of education and training do chiropractors have?

Doctors of chiropracticare educated as primary-contact healthcare providers, with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the musculoskeletal system (the muscles, ligaments and joints of the spine and extremities) and the nerves that supply them. Educational requirements for doctors of chiropractic are among the most stringent of any of the healthcare professions. The typical applicant for chiropractic college has already acquired nearly four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education, including courses in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work.

What degree must a Chiropractor earn in order to practice?

Chiropractors must earn a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree and get a state license.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest nondrug, noninvasive forms of health care available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.
